Put a heart on it

I will admit it, I am that mom.

Pancake heart The one who sacrifices fifteen minutes of much-needed sleep to make a special breakfast for her kids.

Yep… heart-shaped pancakes, it turns out, are infinitely more exciting than plain-old round ones. Blog pancake heart 2 For a moment, as I was trying to freehand hearts out of pancake batter, not yet through my first cup of coffee… I did question my sanity.  Is this really worth the effort? We’re just going to eat them. But you know something?

During this short, sweet season of life… my little ones live for this kind of special-ness.

Heart-shaped pancakes are the stuff legends are made of – the type of thing that makes them think I am The.Best.Mom.

Blog pancake heart 3Yep… this little stack of hearts was totally worth it. Up next: I’m thinking I might experiment and see what else they like better when it is in heart form? Heart-shaped broccoli patties perhaps?

      Yeah, I just smooshed the batter around until it resembled a heart… some of them came out better than others!
