31 Days on Creativity: Colour at the farmer’s market

This is day 28 in a 31 day series on creativity. Thanks for following along!

First of all, I must confess – this whole 31-day business has been harder than I thought. (All bloggers who have previously written a 31-day series – I hear you saying ‘Well, duh!’) I apologize that it hasn’t been 31 days in a row. But I’m getting there, and after this I promise to start posting about normal life things – as in, things other than my obsession with creativity.

Anyway, today I’ll let some photos do the talking… to declare my love for colour and the way it inspires creativity. Blog wagonSo many times, I have found myself in the market, armed with a list… and as I wander, I am totally and completely smitten with colourBlog wagon 2And texture and shape and freshness, of course… but it’s colour I first fall in love with. Blog potatosMore often than not, my list remains in my pocket and I end up gathering whatever beautifully coloured veggies appeal to me that day.Blog kaleLately cabbages and kale are inspiring me to cook comforting winter soups.
Blog cabbage green My kids thought the cabbages would be better used as bowling balls  - which is, I’ll admit, quite a creative thing to do with them. Blog cabbage

I’m the one making dinner, though, so the cabbages came home with us and were made into soup. But my, it was hard to cut them up. I wanted to just admire them instead. Blog wagon

I like to make shopping lists, to plan my week of menus – but I am rarely able to stick to the plan… because I so deeply love the creative aspect of cooking. It opens my eyes to the beauty and life that is all around.

Colour- like creativity-is all around us.How about you? Is colour inspiring you to be creative today?
